GI Joe Action Figures
There are no G.I.Joe’s in reality because the name was coined by Hasbro to market military-themed action figures. The first lot of GI Joe action figures represented four branches of the United States Armed Forces and they were Action Soldier - Army, Action Pilot - Air Force, Action Sailor - Navy, and Action Marine - USMC. The USMC GI Joe action figures were and still are the most popular of the lot. The GI Joe action figures were manufactured initially in 1964 and stood 12-inches tall. In 1982 Hasbro launched them again with a 3 3/4-inch tall GI Joe action figures so that they could fit into the toy vehicles, other play sets and also created a story that involved their struggle with the evil Cobra Organization.
