Micronaut Action Figures
Micronaut is one of the biggest success stories in the North American toy industry ever. Designed and released by Mego Corp., the basic Micronaut was a Time Traveller model that came in a range of designs and colors. Just like GI Joe or Barbie Doll, Micronauts were a huge craze with children back in the late 70s. Interestingly, Micronauts was the American name for Microman line of action figures developed by Takara, the Japanese toy maker. These 3.75” tall figures, vehicles, robots, accessories, and play sets, all has a 5mm inter-connector that joined the various points together allowing for greater flexibility. Despite their success, the Micronauts line of action figures were discontinued in 1980.
Here’s a look at the various Micronauts series through its re-release in 2002 after Palisades Toy bought the rights for reproduction.
