How to Determine the Value of Action Figures

Oh! I am so much in love with my collection of action figures that I can barely stop talking about them. Even though, I had to sell of 500 of them, I am still left with 1200 action figures and they include everything from Superman in original costume to Spiderman in his revealing new black Spiderman III costume. Some people think I am crazy but I would like to re-phrase it and simply put it as passion for owning action figures. In a way, action figures help to keep the child in me alive. So are you as crazy as I am? If you are then you are probably buying action figures over the internet this very minute or you are probably making a list of the ones you want to really, really buy!

The truth is that buying an action figure over the internet is easy especially if you are using your dad’s credit card but there are some finer points that you need to consider. One of the most important aspect or finer point is determining the value of action figures that you want to buy. There are two ways of evaluating the value of an action figure and they are: finding it over the internet and determining how old they are as in vintage. Let’s take a peek into how you can really determine the value of action figures.

Find the value over the Internet

The Internet is a huge market place and you will find hundreds and thousands of websites selling action figures but all of them are not good. I learnt from my experience that one should not always jump for discounted action figures because what you see is not what you get. I once found a website selling an action figure of G.I Joe for $2.50 although the value was approximately $9.99. When I bought it, I received the action figure within 3 days. On opening the packaging, I found that the action figure was a little ripped off from the behind and had some discolorations as well. Now that’s definitely not something I had bargained for.

What you need to ideally do is check the price of a particular action figure that you want over the Internet. For example: if you are looking for Iron Man action figures then visit Hasbro to find out the actual price of a particular figure. It will probably be priced anywhere from $10 to $20. Take the manufacturer’s price at the determinant and then go around searching over the internet for that specific figure. If you find websites selling the same action figure for more than $20 then you know that this is not the right price.

Some people may suggest a price guide but it is not necessary that the price guide is always correct because the price is based mostly on the popularity of a product, the size of the figure, the accessories that come with it, and the type whether vintage or new. It is hence always a better option to check the price with the manufacturer.
