Beam me up, Mr Sulu! Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Sulu, Dr. Bones, and Scotty became the small screen icons soon after star trek hit prime time television. It started out as an American science fiction entertainment TV series in 1966 and is celebrating 40 years of being on air. From William Shatner as Captain Kirk and Leonard Nimoy as Mr. Spock, the original series was on air from 1966-1969.
Star Trek, the next generation went on air in 1987 and ran till 1994 with Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes) as the lead characters. Since then there have been three more series: Deep space nine, Voyager, and Enterprise but none have been as successful as William Shatner's original series. Captain Kirk and his crew have been a hot favorite not only on TV but also on the shelves especially with nice little action figures. One of the special editions is the 6-inch "Trek" action figures introduced by Playmates Toys costing $8.99 each. Each of these figures is almost life like with flexible and soft PVC shirts. The accessories include phasers used in the movie, communicator and an utility belt. The different Star Trek action figures available include Capt. Kirk, Mr. Spock, Pike, Scotty, and Sulu in Enterprise Outfit, and Dr. McCoy, Chekov, and Uhura in cadet outfit.
